It is always crowded near the waterfall. Here you can see tourist groups and locals who come here with their families to relax. Ouzoud Falls
Ouzoud Falls

The Ouzoud Falls are located in the High Atlas Mountains near the village of Tanagmeil in the Azilal region, 150 km north-east of Marrakech. Every day, crowds of tourists come here purely for the sake of the waterfalls. And yes, these are the most beautiful waterfalls in Morocco. Look at them – you won’t want to look at others 🙂 In Morocco, at least.

Ouzoud Falls

The name of the Ouzoud Falls is translated from Berber , as “the art of grinding grain”. On the one hand, the toponym is completely understandable: the waterfall rumbles, as if it really has no equal in grinding grain. On the other hand, they say that there are too many mills in the area , and the name was given first to the local region, and then at the same time to the waterfalls. Some of the mills can be seen by climbing to the very top of the cascade, from where the water rushes down. Mills, by the way, do not grind grain here, but olives to produce olive oil. And this is where the confusion begins.

Those who probably know Tamazight, the Berber language, should ask about the name of the Uzud waterfalls. Because one half of the sites and books says that “uzud” is a “mill”, and the other half says that it is an “olive tree”. Since there are even more olive trees in the district than mills, it is very difficult to find out what exactly the waterfalls were named after. We hope the Berbers themselves are not confused about this.

The height of the Ouzoud Falls is 110 meters in total – there are several steps, and it is customary to consider their total height. The river bed on the cliff is higher than at the bottom – as a result, several small streams are obtained that fall into a solid lake. Looks amazing. Under the lowest (and most picturesque) step, a small tourist ferry floats, capable of pulling all interested tourists almost under the stream itself. You do not want? Then shoot in the distance from the shore. (more…)

Angel Falls is part of the National Park Canaima, which is located in the state of Bolivar, Venezuela. Water flows from the summit of Mount Auyantepuy, one of the largest mesas. Even before the collision with the ground, from 300 m and above, the waters of Angel turn into billions of tiny particles that form a kind of fog. This wind-blown fog spreads over several kilometers. The mountain got the name ‘Devil’s Canyon’, apparently because of the enormous force with which the waters of Angel rush from almost a kilometer height.

The Angel Falls got its name in honor of the American pilot Jimmy Angel. This avid explorer noticed Auyantepui from a flight altitude in November 1933, and then returned to these parts in October 1937, trying to land his Flamingo plane on the top of the mountain. When landing, the landing gear sank into swampy soil, the plane went out of order, and then Angel, along with his group of three, went on foot with Auyantepui. This journey from wilderness to civilization lasted eleven days. The news of Angel’s adventures and misadventures spread quickly, after which the waterfall was named Angel Falls. (more…)

The Brazilian side of the Iguazu Falls is considered more advantageous in terms of the views and panoramas themselves, although it is inferior to its Argentine neighbor in terms of territory. Perhaps this is the main difference between the Brazilian and Argentine parks.

Iguazu Falls National Park Facts

An interesting fact about the Iguazu Falls in South America: the attraction was discovered in 1541 by the Spanish conquistador Don Alvaro Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, who rushed at the behest of the king to search for gold from the legendary Inca Empire. He landed with a detachment on the coast of present-day Brazil, moving westward, crossed the Brazilian Highlands and, hearing a distant rumble, went to the waterfall. Thus, here, too, the omnipresent Inca trace was not without.

A beautiful legend is associated with the waterfalls, according to which God wanted to marry a beautiful girl named Naipu, but she fled with her lover on a boat. Then the angry God cut the river, creating waterfalls in the path of the lovers. The young man turned into a lonely palm tree, and the girl into a rock. Rainbows so frequent at waterfalls pass through a palm tree and a rock, and then it seems as if the lovers are tenderly hugging each other.
