The island of Langkawi, located off the northwest coast of Malaysia, is a picturesque place with a green tropical forest, sandy beaches, azure sea, everything for a great holiday. And in order for tourists to enjoy all this beauty even better, at an altitude of 700 meters above the gorge between the Gunung Mountains, a high and unusual Sky Bridge (Langkawi Sky Bridge) was built, which goes into the heavens, from which a fabulous view of the island opens.

The Langkawi Sky Bridge was built in 2004 and has been open to the public since 2005 and is the tallest single-support bridge in the world. The entire bridge really rests on just one high, metal support. The weight of the bridge is distributed over 8 cables attached to this single support. That is, it is actually suspended over an abyss and on windy days it is most noticeably felt.

Although the bridge does not seem to be very reliable, safety came first in the design of the bridge, so you don’t have to worry that something will break down and the bridge will fall, it is very thought out and completely safe for people. Even in bad weather, escape routes are provided on the Langkawi Sky Bridge to keep people safe from lightning. Also on the upper level are double steel railings, wire mesh and wood flooring below the parapet.

The bridge is 125 meters long and 1.8 meters wide and connects the two peaks of the Gunung Mountains. Along the edges of the bridge there are triangular platforms, like stops, where you can stop and admire a wonderful view of the island, the Andaman Sea and neighboring islands from a larger area and give your feet a rest. Since the bridge is curved, you can admire the delightful landscapes from different angles. (more…)

The Széchenyi Chain Bridge (the correct accent is on the first syllable), or otherwise the Budapest Bridge, connects the two banks of the Danube , on which the two old halves of the city are stretched: Buda and Pest. The bridge opened to traffic in 1849, and it was the first (apart from temporary) in the capital after the Hungarian revolution of 1848. At that time, the central span of the bridge, reaching 202 m, was one of the longest in the world.

Istvan Széchenyi was a prominent politician in Hungary, and he greatly contributed to the construction of the bridge. At the time of its construction, this bridge was so huge, and its design was so original that it was considered a real miracle of engineering. In addition, the bridge also had a symbolic meaning: it personified the union of two cities into one. (more…)

Top 10 Most Famous Bridges in The World

1. Golden Gate Bridge (USA)

The Golden Gate Bridge is not the largest bridge in the world, nor the most significant from the architectural point of view of rhenium, and even more so its historical significance is doubtful, but without a doubt, the Golden Gate Bridge is the most famous and most photographed bridge in the world. The Golden Gate is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate, the strait between San Francisco and Marin County to the north. Thanks to architect Joseph B. Strauss, whose statue adorns the southern observation deck, it took just seven years to build and was completed in 1937.

The Golden Gate Bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world at the time and is a major tourist attraction in San Francisco and California. Since its completion, span length has been surpassed by eight other bridges. The famous red-orange color of the bridge was specially chosen to make the bridge more visible in the dense fog that often envelops the bridge.

3. Tower Bridge (UK)

It took eight years, five large contractors and the tireless work of 1,000 construction workers every day to build Tower Bridge, now one of the symbols of London. Two massive jetties were sunk into the riverbed to support construction, and over 11,000 tons of steel provided the base for the Tower and Promenade. This frame was clad in Cornish granite and Portland stone to protect the underlying steel and give the Bridge a more noble appearance.

Durdevica Tara Bridge

The Durdevica Tara Bridge is one of the most memorable sights of Montenegro. It offers simply fantastic views of the surrounding mountains and the Tara River canyon.

Durdevica Tara Bridge – The nature in these places is simply amazing. We have not seen such beauty anywhere else. High mountains covered with dense forests, small valleys, a mighty river somewhere far below…

Durdevica Tara Bridge1
Durdevica Tara Bridge

And literally nearby on a zip-line (bungee, if simple) tourists fly by, somewhere below people enjoy rafting, sailing along the great river. This pleasure costs 10 or 20 euros, depending on the bungee. There is also a small souvenir market nearby , although the prices are quite high there. On the other hand, unusual, unique things also sometimes come across.

Getting to the Durdevica Tara Bridge on your own is rather difficult and not very profitable – a rented car and spent gasoline will cost you quite a lot, maybe even more expensive than a simple excursion. And if you also take into account that the roads in Montenegro are very difficult, twisted by simply unrealistic serpentines, it is much easier to choose an excursion .

Alternatively, you can consider an individual excursion with a private guide to these places, but it will be expensive.
