Aljaferia is not just a palace, but at the same time a fortress. Inside the fortress walls there is a courtyard surrounded by porticoes. From the north and south, the courtyard is surrounded by luxurious chambers and lounges. It is curious that the most important premises of the Aljaferia Palace are located on the north side. Among them is the Golden Hall, or salon.

At the end of the 11th century, the salon was decorated in blue and red, and the edges were trimmed with gold. Combined with white marble columns, this color scheme gave the palace an astounding grandeur.
